Connecting the Dots:
The Kansas Yellow Dot Program
Making the yellow brick road safer for seniors. The Kansas Yellow Dot Program is sponsored by the Lyon County RSVP.
Did you know?
Kansas Department of Transportation reports (2004) that there were 19,147 vehicle accidents involving senior citizens 55 and older. Of these accidents, 4,577 were injury accidents and 141 were fatalities. What it is
The Kansas Yellow Dot in the back windshield of the recipient’s vehicle signifies that there is medical information stored in the glove compartment. In the event of an accident, or the recipient is unable to speak, emergency personnel/first responders will have a brief description of medical needs and emergency contacts. Law enforcement, Fire departments, EMS/Ambulance services and hospitals all over the State of Kansas have been alerted to watch for the Kansas Yellow Dot.
How it works
The Kansas Yellow Dot kit contains instructions, medical information form, a self adhesive sticker and a bright yellow envelope. The recipient fills out the medical information form and attaches a recent photograph to the outside of the envelope. The envelope/information is placed in the recipient’s glove box. The sticker is placed on the outside of the windshield on the lower rear driver’s side window. Who can get one?
The Kansas Yellow Dot Program is for Kansas seniors aged 55+. The kits are FREE. Kansas Yellow Dot Distribution Sites:
