Lyon County YELLOW DOT Program The Lyon County Yellow Dot program was created to help senior citizens communicate their medications, medical conditions, emergency contacts, and other vital information to emergency first responders during a vehicle accident when they may not be able to communicate for themselves. This lifesaving program is sponsored by the Lyon County RSVP Program, the Trusler Foundation, and the Emporia Fire Department. Any senior citizen in Lyon County, age 55 or over, can receive a Yellow Dot Kit free of charge. How Does the Yellow Dot Program Work? A Yellow Dot sticker is placed on the outside of the driver’s side rear windshield. Emergency first responders (police, ambulance, and firemen) have been alerted to look for this sticker. A medical information form containing current medications you are taking, medical conditions and emergency contacts for you is filled out and placed in a yellow envelope which is stored in the glove box of the vehicle. Attach a picture of yourself to the form for identification in case more than one person is riding in the vehicle so that emergency personnel can match the form information to the person. Complete medical forms for all others who frequently ride or drive each vehicle and include them in the Yellow Dot envelope in the glove box. Be sure to attach a recent photo of each person to their medical information sheet for identification purposes.
