The purpose of the Lyon County Law Library (LCLL) is to provide legal information support to attorney members of the LCLL. Physical access is available to library members during courthouse hours - typically, 8-5 Mon - Fri. Public access is available Wed & Thurs mornings from 9 to noon, or by appointment - call or email to make arrangements. The librarian is on-site Wed & Thursday mornings, Thursday afternoon and other times by appointment. Online databases available onsite include HeinOnline, Kansas.gov, Lexis and Westlaw. February CLE - Wellness: Not Just Not Being Sick Anne McDonald of the Kansas Lawyers Assistance Program (KALAP) will provide a one-hour presentation on the importance of wellness to meet ethics rule 8.4 on Wednesday, February 8 from 12 to 1pm in Courtroom #3. One hour of Ethics CLE has been requested; there is no fee for this brown-bag session, which is open to all attorneys licensed to practice in Kansas. Public Legal Education (PLE) Event - Feb 18 The LCLL and Emporia Public Library (EPL) are teaming again to provide a public legal education opportunity on Saturday, February 18 at 1:30 pm in the large meeting room at EPL. The film Amistad will be shown, and post-movie discussion will be led by Judge Doug Jones and Attorney Timothy Dupree. The Amistad case is considered instrumental to ending slavery in the U.S. |
