You Can Use This Application to:

• Register to vote in Kansas
• Change your name or your address on your registration
• Affiliate with a political party or change your party affiliation

To Register to Vote You Must:

• Be a U.S. citizen, be a resident of the State of Kansas, have reached the age of eighteen (18) years before the next statewide general election and have your civil rights restored if convicted of a felony

Important: Return your completed application to your county.

• Your county election officer will mail you a notice when your application has been processed. This application must be postmarked by the 15th day before an election in order to be eligible to be registered in that election.
• The last 4 digits of your Social Security number is now required.

If you decline to register to vote, that fact will remain confidential and will be used for voter registration purposes only. If you do register to vote, the office where you submit this application will be confidential and will be used for voter registration purposes only.

To advance vote in any election you must contact your County Clerk's Office for an advance application form. This application form must be signed by the voter and returned to your County Clerk's Office.

There are four recognized political parties in Kansas: Democratic, Republican, Libertarian and Reform.

New voters often ask, "What does it mean to be registered as unaffiliated?" It means that you cannot vote in a partisan election (such as a Primary). You may be unaffiliated and still vote in any General Election, Special Elections and City/School Elections. If you wish to vote in a Primary Election you may declare your party at the time you vote.

Another area of confusion is party affiliation at a Primary Election. You may not change your party affiliation at the Polls on Election Day. You must do that before the registration book closes, 15 days before any election.
